Sexual Formation

I'm dealing with unwanted sexual behavior.

You’re not alone.  The latest statistics on Christians and porn habits are pretty staggering.  It affects men and women, young and old, single and married.  And the effects of unwanted sexual behavior can be devastating. It’s time we support each other in the process of getting free from sexual sin.  At Riverbend, we partner with a ministry called Pure Desire to help people live in sexual purity.

Steps to freedom:

  1. Reach out to our team of trained leaders.  Our leaders have been through a similar journey as you, and they’re now living in the hope and freedom of sexual integrity.  Your name and your story will remain confidential.

  2. Join a Seven Pillars Group.  Seven Pillars is Pure Desire’s robust 9 month program that connects you with other people who are dealing with unwanted sexual behavior, and teaches you: 1) to understand the underlying issues beneath your behavior, develop a plan for purity, use tools to create healing and freedom, and ultimately live with sexual integrity.

  3. Set up your Network of Care.  We’re not meant to do this alone.  In your Seven Pillars group, you’ll build meaningful relationships with other people who can relate to your story and will be actively supporting you in your journey.  In addition to a group of peers, we recommend developing a network of care that includes a sexual addiction counselor, pastoral direction, and a wise mentor.

  4. Devote yourself to the Process.  Undoing years of bad habits, uprooting lies we’ve believed about ourselves, and overcoming trauma we’ve experienced in life takes commitment over time.  The process is proven: Pure Desire has helped hundreds of thousands of people get free from sexual addiction.  With the Lord’s help— you can do this too.  We have many trusted resources and podcasts to encourage you along the way.
